About The Restaurant

When wandering out west, or indeed planning a special occasion, then be sure to check out the fab Charleville Park Hotel, in the Ballyhoura region, close to the Limerick border. The hotel is stylish and modern and offers foodies, foragers and the just plain hungry lots of great dining options from the brows-held-high fine dining side of things to the relaxed bar & grill aspect.

Their Greenfinch Restaurant offers the finest in Irish cuisine in an environment that is stylish and tasteful but also spacious and airy and is the perfect spot for a big occasion, a night out with friends or a romantic interlude. For the starters, think classic Caesar salad; duck spring rolls with a Thai salad; or a chili & herb crab tian with dressed leaves and a citrus vinaigrette, whilst mains feature dishes like a fillet of Atlantic sea bass with grilled fennel, tomato and fennel sauce and wilted spinach; or a grilled 10oz sirloin steak with field mushrooms and peppercorn sauce. And, afterwards, a chocolate tasting plate or a warm apple crumple might be just the thing to cap off a great meal.

If it’s a more relaxed bite that you’re in the mood for then make your way to their Park Bar & Grill. Whether its drinks, a light bite or a meal they’ve got you covered. On a recent jaunt about Munster we stopped in for lunch and were delighted by the atmosphere within and the variety of good food available. When we were there, starters included Atlantic seafood chowder and a langoustine cocktail with a crispy salad. Brendan fancied the Louisiana hot & spicy wings which he thoroughly enjoyed with a Ranch dipping sauce, whilst I went for the three way pork of McCarty’s Queens Black Pudding, Pork Croquet and Crispy Pancetta, with Apple Sauce, Apricots and Greens. Delicious.

Mains included baked salmon with scallion mash and wilted spinach; marinated chicken supreme; as well as Italian style funghi fettuccine with garlic bread and Parmesan cheese. They also offer a selection of ‘Creative Salads’, not to mention their ‘Burger Gallery’ featuring ‘The Park’,’The Mexican’ and ‘The Park Royale’! Himself went for a dish of slow cooked pork belly served up with black pudding croquet, green cabbage, apple sauce and pan gravy, which he happily devoured, whilst I set my sights on ‘The Park Royale’, a delicious grilled beef burger with blue cheese, Dijon mustard, Cos lettuce, vine tomato and red onion, all on a tasty brioche bun with a side of tasty French fries.

Despite an array of tempting treats including apple crumble pie with vanilla ice cream; bread & butter pudding with rum & raisn ice cream; and their cheesecake of the day, we decided we’d split one dessert and we both quickly agreed on the chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and chocolate ice cream. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate!

For a quieter and perhaps smaller bite, their Osprey Lounge, which adjoins the hotels courtyard garden, is intimate and beautifully designed and offers salads, hot bites, sandwiches and scones along with a range of teas, coffees and desserts.

To put it simply, there's something here for everyone, whether it's good food, good atmosphere or good service. Go see for yourself!
