About The Hotel

Our French visitors, Michelle and Zandra, had expressed a definite interest in visiting the Waterford Glass Factory so, the decision was taken, to drive down and overnight in Waterford. We drove down through Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, and Wexford and duly did the tour of the Waterford Glass Factory. Living in Paris, the idea of an Irish farm appealed and I had one up my sleeve. They took a sharp intake of breath when the ivy clad Foxmount House came into view. “Oh, this beautiful”, they exclaimed of its impeccably kept lawns, glorious flower beds and gravel paths, that looked as if they had been fine combed. Inside, too, they were delighted with a blazing fire in the drawingroom, as they admired the family silver, antiques, and general good taste of Margaret and David Kent who, with their son and daughter, run this lovely house and dairy farm to perfection. Michelle and Zandra were anxious to explore the farm so David took them under his wing and showed them around. Some time later I looked out my lovely bedroom window and was surprised to see the pair of them belting a ball back and forth out on the tennis court, but what struck me most when I gazed out the window was being able to see into Margaret Kent’s kitchen where perched on the windowsill was a perfectly arranged bowl of soft and dewy pink roses. For me, that said it all. Foxmount House is perfection, from the sign on the main road, right through to the hidden sections of the kitchen. Breakfast was beautifully presented with little bowls of floating flowers and leaves. Delicious breads and scones with homemade preserves sit on beautiful plates followed by a delicious cooked breakfast. I couldn’t resist picking up all of the plates and looking underneath to see who made them! One of the brilliant things about Foxmount too is its location. It is a farm on the edge of Waterford City so you are in to the centre by taxi or car in literally ten minutes, yet you have the joy of being close to the sea, you are on the road down to the little ferry in picturesque Passage East and very close to any number of golf courses.
