About The Hotel
Aghadoe Heights Hotel at Killarney is not just any ordinary Hotel it is an experience. Stunningly located overlooking the Lakes of Killarney, just the right distance from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, It offers 5 star unpretentious luxury in a friendly welcoming atmosphere with service and attention that is second to none. It is bliss and switch off time, from which you will only be disturbed by solicitous and gentle pampering by the ever attentive staff. The public rooms are furnished with a mélange of elegant eclectic pieces from the Far East, mixed through with French antiques, fine paintings and sculptures. Luxurious elegant bedrooms have balconies, whilst spacious junior suites with floor to ceiling windows have fantastic quadraphonic high tech TV’s as well. A Roman style indoor swimming pool is placed to the front of the building so, as you swim, you can still see the lakes and mountains with their ever changing palette of moody colours. Right next door to the pool is the hip cocktail bar for that cool drink or you can slip upstairs to the open plan lounge and have the most scrumptious afternoon tea, served by white-gloved girls. Luxuriate in the fantastic Aveda Spa. Try the Precious Stone Therapy – Aghadoe have the only Precious Stone Room in the world where you sit on a throne facing an amethyst grotto, it is blissful.
In the evening you will be relaxed and ready for delicious contemporary food, with a focus on local produce, which you can enjoy in the superb Lake Room, or a more casual menu in the Heights Lounge, both of which are incorporated in the large first floor open plan area, with magnificent views of the lakes, where the resident pianist plays away on the grand piano. You might fancy superp seared king scallops with pressed ham trotter, garden of eden cabbage and hazelnut, or rabbit & foie gras terrine, fig, salsify, woodruff and sesame, followed maybe by halibut with fennel, parsley root, samphire, oyster beurre blanc and caviar; 28-day aged Hereford beef with smoked potato, burnt shallot, Gaelic escargot, watercress and truffled red wine jus, or indeed, mallard with foie gras, Irish beetroot..... To cap it all Aghadoe has the most fantastic two bedroomed penthouse suite, with outdoor hot tub, exquisitely furnished to include pieces by style icon Eileen Gray, as well as paintings by Maria Simmonds Gooding, and Pat Scott, and it has its own Paul Burrell – a butler who won’t tell all! Chauffeur service to and from Kerry Airport available or come by helicopter. “How can you buy Killarney” were the words of the song but how can you buy Aghadoe is the real question!
