About The Restaurant

The Coach House at Roundwood, Co. Wicklow, is a picture perfect classic Irish Inn, offering restaurant quality pub food and comfortable B&B lodgings with attractive en-suite rooms.

A sister property to the popular Enniskerry Inn, The Coach House, owned by the Lawlor family, with three generations involved in the business, is perfectly situated for all manner of visitors, being close to Glendalough, Laragh, Enniskerry, Bray and Wicklow town not to mention being within driving distance of the famous dunes at Brittas Bay. Ramblers out exploring Sally Gap or stopping off for a night as they traverse The Wicklow Way will be delighted, as will families enjoying a day at the beach or a visit to Powerscourt Gardens.

The Coach House itself is a lively village pub offering a wonderful relaxed vibe. The building itself is a 200-year-old hunting lodge style structure – known back in the day as The Royal Coach House. Furnished to the highest standards whilst still retaining that ‘olde world’ feel, there’s lots of plush leather seating and stylish pews and, given the size of the pub itself, there’s lots of breathing room, while at the same time, there's lots of interesting nooks and crannies to disappear off into, plus an attractive decked beer garden, perfect for al fresco summer dining.

The star attraction here, however, is the food, which is available from 12pm daily. The award-winning gastro fare on offer at The Coach House isn’t pretentious at all, it’s simply pub fare kicked up a notch. Familiar dishes with thoughtful tweaks, fresh local produce and an artful touch.

Starters may include the likes of Prawn Pil Pil in a brandy, chilli and garlic oil with cherry tomato and lemon zest served with sourdough; Buffalo style chicken wings with a choice of their homemade bbq or a hot Louisiana sauce; or a grilled Halloumi salad. The Coach House chowder is superb, brimming with generous chunks of fresh & smoked haddock, salmon and mussel meat in a potato stock, finished with cream and served on homemade soda buttermilk bread.

For the mains, they have some excellent burgers to choose from, including a chicken burger, marinated in Cajun spices & buttermilk, and served on a black charcoal burger bun with lettuce, tomato, their ‘ultimate’ blue cheese mayo, and a side of chips. If your wondering, where’s the beef? Never fear, their Classic Coach House Burger is a meaty 8oz specimen prepared with a touch of horseradish and bbq flavour, and topped with award winning Cahills porter cheddar cheese from Co. Cork, served on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato & homemade relish. Chips & beer battered Onion rings complete an already delicious plate. If meat’s not your thing, they also offer an Holloumi and vegetable burger on a beetroot bun with grilled mediteranean veg, homemade relish and chips.Their red thai curry is popular, available with prawn chicken or veg, as is their Chicken Saltimbocca a la Romana, and Italian-style dish of pan-fried butterfly chicken breast with fresh sage leaves & prosciutto ham, finished in a white wine, cream & butter sauce, and served with truffle mash & green beans. For those of you who love a delicious cheesy slice of pizza, you’re in luck, with a tasty selection to choose from – available for take away also – collection only.

Also on-site at The Coach House is their trendy POD outdoor café, offering locally roasted Mc Cabes coffee, fresh baked pastries, hearty homemade soups & delicious Gourmet sausage rolls made with loving care in Dublin by Pieman & delivered fresh.

So whether, you’re a rambler, a day tripper, a beach body or just on the hunt for great food and fun, be sure to make a visit to The Coach House.
