About The Restaurant

If you’re after some really great food, whilst touring the Wild Atlantic Way, then don’t miss the Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff. With more than 200 years of history to be discovered, and views that are simply breathtaking, the Eccles Hotel has something for everyone. Located on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork, the scenery here, with panoramic views out over Bantry Bay and stretches of the Wild Atlantic Way, is fantastic and it’s truly rare for a scene to be set so well.

For a casual repast, head for their much-loved Harbour Bar. Warm and inviting throughout, it’s the perfect place for a bite with friends or a few drinks in a friendly atmosphere that also offers a fantastic view of the bay. At weekends, they feature a variety of musicians and entertainers to check out, whilst sampling some of the fab range of craft beers on offer. The menu at the Harbour Bar, which is served throughout the day, offers some truly tasty bites with starters including dishes like a chicken Caesar salad with Cos lettuce, Irish chicken, parmesan and local smoked bacon; Panko calamari rings with a smoked sriracha sauce; as well as Irish smoked salmon with sea asparagus, beetroot puree, caper fruit and watercress.

For the mains, there’s lots to choose from with their Eccles Irish Beef Burger with vintage cheddar, smoked bacon and a brioche bun; an organic-chicken red curry with pineapple chutney; or their Irish Hereford chilli con carne. But, if you’re just after a little bite, then make sure to sink your teeth into a delicious slice of their rustic apple tart served with vanilla ice-cream.

If, on the other hand, it’s a more formal affair you’re after, then be sure to book a table at their Garinish Restaurant. Elegant and spacious, this beautiful dining space is perfect place to enjoy the fabulous Wild Atlantic views whilst indulging in some top-notch foodie fare. The menu at Garinish changes regularly offering a wide choice of dishes using the freshest local and seasonal ingredients available, provided by artisan food suppliers from within West Cork. Starters at Garnish might include dishes like an Ardsallagh goats cheese salad with maple candied walnut, beetroot and watercress leaves; Bantry Bay mussels in a white wine sauce, with capers, shallots and tabasco; or a house terrine served with cranberry mousse and crisp bread.

The mains, which offer wine pairings, may have things like pan roasted monkfish with roast baby tomatoes, sea asparagus and brandade croquette, with an optional wine-pairing of Pionero Mundi Albarino; fillet of beef served with fondant potato, Portobello mushroom, slow roasted tomato and a red wine jus, again with an optional pairing of Aires Andinos Malbec; or perhaps, like me, you’d enjoy their Kerry Mountain rack of lamb served with a vegetable ratatouille, fondant potato, and a Malbac jus, paired with an Altos Ibericos Rioja Crianza.

Be sure to check out the desserts at Garinish, which are, in a word, heavenly. Treat yourself to a piece of their tasty rustic apple pie or some fromage from their West Cork cheese board, or really go for broke with decadent delight by way of their white chocolate cheesecake.

So, whether it’s a casual bite, a proper to-do, or a few drinks with and some good entertainment, you’ll find it at the Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff.
