Description

Set in the pretty and popular market town of Macroom in Co. Cork, Granville’s Bar & Grill is an award winning family run establishment known for its great food and hospitality. Located just off the town’s historic square and adjacent to the walls of Macroom Castle, the atmosphere is old meets new with the rough exposed stone walls of the building adding to the charm of their contemporary fare.

Kick off with the likes of a hearty French onion soup with Coolea cheese croutons or maybe a wild Atlantic prawn bruschetta or a castletownbere crab crumble, before sinking your teeth into one of their meaty mains such as an slow-braised shank of Irish lamb with creamy mash, veg, and a rosemary and red wine sauce. There’s great steaks too, like an 8oz Irish Hereford prime sirloin or a 14oz Michael Twomey T-bone, both being served with tempura onion rings, grilled flat mushrooms, fries and a choice of sauce. Prefer seafood? No problem, they do a superb chilli & peanut rayu glazed fillet of sea bass served with steamed veg, sautéed baby potatoes and an orange buerre blanc, not to mention their pan-seared wild Atlantic prawn linguine served with garlic bread. Vegetarians aren’t left out in the cold either with dishes like goats cheese and veg spring rolls or linguine pesto with cherry tomatoes, baby spinach and cream.

For dessert, tuck into a warm apple sponge cake with vanilla custard and a bourbon vanilla ice cream, or perhaps a hazelnut scented crème brulee with Kevin’s homemade shortbread and a berry compote. Leonie’s warm chocolate brownie too is to die for.

Fancy your dessert in a more liquid form? Then grab yourself one of their excellent dessert cocktails such as a brandy Alexander, an espresso martini, or a Granville Grasshopper with crème de menthe, white crème de cacao & cream, which they aptly describe as an alcoholic After Eight.

So, whether you’re staying in the area or headed west to Killarney, Granville’s Bar & Grill is most definitely worth your attention.
