At Minato, their goal is to bring the heart of Japan to the popular bustling town of Navan, Co. Meath. With a menu that’s brimming with authentic Japanese delights, from their delicate sushi and soothing ramen, to their expertly grilled yakitori dishes, they say their food will transport you straight to the streets of Tokyo, and I won't argue with that. It’s set in a dinky but relaxed and welcoming space, seating just 21 at small simple tables, however they also have a thriving takeout and delivery service which has proved immensely popular in the local area.

The menu here is expansive, with an absolute plethora of tasty dishes to choose between. From their Tapas selection, there’s gyoza in pork, chicken and veg varieties, as well as things like king prawn tempura, chicken Karaage or chicken wings cooked with your choice of teriyaki or kimchi sauce.

There’s plenty on offer too from their Nigiri hand-pressed sushi selection, whether it’s seared salmon, roasted eel, spicy tuna or orange masago (fish eggs). Sashimi slices or fresh salmon and tuna are available also.

The Sushi Platters here are epic and definitely worth your attention. From salmon tasting platters to Nigiri platters to veg platters, each comes with a terrific vibrant collection of tastes and textures that really elevates the experience.

Beyond the smaller more delicate Nigiri, they also have selections of Norimaki (medium sushi rolls) as well as their signature Futomaki (large sushi rolls), which includes options like their Soft Shell Crab Tempura Roll or their Rainbow Roll of crabstick, mayo and avocado topped with fresh salmon, tuna, prawns and sliced avocado.

Poke bowls are a popular choice here as well, all served with seaweed salad, edamame beans, avocado, cucumber, sushi ginger and sushi rice, combined with your choice of seafood/tofu.

The ever-popular Ramen is a delight here, with the steamy noodle soup being offered in various pleasing forms. Choose from grilled beef, chicken grilled teriyaki salmon, veg, or their Minato version which features king prawn, pork, chicken and tofu with a seasoned egg, soy, bamboo shoots, beansprouts and a Konbudashi broth.

They also offer an array of Yaki Soba (dry noodle dishes) along with a selection of Donburi (rice dishes), and let’s not forget their Japanese Teppanyaki dishes of stir fried veg topped with a choice of grilled chicken, salmon, beef, steak or tofu on a sizzling hot pan served with steamed rice and miso soup.

Worth mentioning too is their popular Bento Boxes, served daily before 6pm. There’s beef steak boxes, salmon teriyaki boxes, crispy duck boxes, plus a veg offering as well, all being served with miso soup.
