About The Restaurant

Set on the breath-taking grounds of the magnificent historic Killua Castle in Co. Westmeath, with links to Sir Walter Raleigh and Lawrence of Arabia, a meal at Twelve Points Restaurant is an unmissable experience. With Chefs Nikita Vostrikov and Taylor Jones at the helm, each plate is a carefully considered and expertly delivered work of art, marrying the rich flavours of fresh Irish produce with the high ideals of true fine dining, and, Whether you’re vegan, gluten free or suffer from allergies, if you let them know at the time of booking, they will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

From Thursday-Saturday, their superb Castle Tasting Menu offers a disparate yet unified journey by land and by sea with plenty of sweet treats and unexpected delights on the way, not to mention some excellent wine pairings. Their current menu (at time of writing) kicks off with kombucha and an amuse bouche served with homemade breads and artisan butters followed by a dish of spiced pumpkin and confit yolk. The chef’s signature fish offering follows next before a meaty offering by way of Killua’s venison. To cleanse the palate before puds, a pre-dessert apple sorbet is just the thing, leaving your taste buds primed and eager for their fab chocolate mousse with cherry glaze. Petit fours and tea/coffee round off the evening. If all that sounds a bit too much for you, they also offer a slightly trimmed down version with their Courtyard Tasting Menu

While a fine-dining tasting menu isn’t going to suit people with kids, they also offer a brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays that’s sure to appeal to the younger crowd with the likes of homemade pancakes with fresh fruit and a choice of sauce be it chocolate caramel or honey; Premium Killua burgers of Irish moiled beef topped with crispy bacon, cheese and a fried egg, drizzled with a honey & mustard sauce, served with a side of fries; or a good old full Irish with eggs scrambled, poached or fried, a choice of wild boar or venison sausage, as well as bacon, grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, beans, toast, a glass of fresh orange juice and tea or coffee. Eggs Benny is there too, served three ways – classic with bacon, Royal with smoked salmon, or Florentine with spinach. There’s a great range of teas and coffees to choose from plus the de rigueur mimosas, bellinis and prosseco.

Killua really is a special place. For the full experience, make sure to book a tour of the castle as well!
