Reviews on the Road - The Sunny South East

Wednesday 13 August 2025
Many years ago, I came across a magical little book about the gems to be found on the back roads of France – soulless motorways only being useful for getting from A to B quickly. For years after that, we followed this book assiduously, discovering small Logis hotels, auberges, and some wonderful little bric-a-brac shops. Ireland really is just the same – you’ll find amazing places if you’re willing to slow down and go a bit off the beaten track.
With that mind, on a recent jaunt, the sunny south east with its glorious beaches was my destination. Having taken the dull aforementioned motorway to Wexford, we started our exploring from there, working our way back up to Dublin in a loop along the coast road.
