Interview - Eileen Dunne Crescenzi
Monday 12 October 2026
When Eileen Dunne and her Italian husband Stefano Crescenzi opened their first tiny enoteca on Nassau Street in 1999, selling wine, snacks, and other Italian delicacies, they changed the face of Italian dining in Ireland from the ubiquitous bland tomatoey drenched slosh of the past to what you’d expect to eat as the norm in say Milan or Rome – simple, good quality, authentic Italian fare.
The couple expanded rapidly around the city with their famous Dunne & Crescenzi (D&C) group of restaurants, adapting down the years to meet the demands of an ever-changing restaurant industry.
