The Irish get a lot of flack for defaulting to the familiarity of Irish bars and cafes when abroad, so it felt somehow reassuring to find that we aren’t alone in this behaviour. My son Ian and I ended up being the only Caucasians in a busy queue of both Chinese locals and tourists, all eager to get into the new Little Canton, a new ‘cha chaan teng’, on its official opening day following a soft run the previous week.
