“I really like the notion of being in high-end restaurants and trying their cheaper options.” So said a languidly elegant female to a man who seemed like her blind date, reeling off the names of a few notables in London, Paris and New York.
He’d made a big deal of embracing her closely on arrival, and now that they were sitting, he reached awkwardly, almost embarrassingly, across the table for her hand. Meanwhile, she seemed to be making the point that he’d invited her for the cheaper option – lunch – rather than dinner.
