With so many restaurants closing their doors over the past year, it’s nice to be able to acknowledge one that has really stood the test of time. Nisheeth Tak’s fabulous Rasam Indian Restaurant in Glasthule, Co Dublin, is celebrating its 21st year of serving up great food to the denizens of SoCoDu.

Before coming to Ireland over 30 years ago, Nisheeth, a hotel management and catering graduate, had worked in the iconic Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, which has hosted heads of state and royalty, including Jackie Kennedy, the now King Charles, Hillary Clinton, and so on. It was also the subject of a terrorist attack in 2008 — later made into the film Hotel Mumbai — in which Nisheeth’s friend, senior chef Vijay Banja, lost his life.
