Description

FXB Steak & Seafood Restaurant FXB Pembroke Street was the first FXB restaurant and is the flagship of the group. Tucked away with a little courtyard to the front, it is in a great location for all the buzzy nightlife that is incumbent with the Merrion Row D2 location. Always buzzy and busy. All of the meat served at FXB restaurants comes from their family farm in County Offaly and is quite superb. You might like to kick off as we do in Pembroke Street with a Kir Royal – you might prefer a Mimosa, Bellini, or a straight glass of champagne which you can have for €12.50. Starters €7.50/€12.50 are delicious and include seared scallops with grilled chorizo, smoked paprika oil and Hollandaise sauce. Carlingford mussel are cooked in white wine with shallots, garlic, lemon and herbs. Dublin Bay Prawn tails are in a herb butter with shallots and srved with warm bread. Oh, yes they also have lovely crab cakes which they serve with a lemon caper mayo, and an antipasti plate with a selection of marinated vegetables, cured meats, olives and various accompaniments. They also do a delicious seafood corn chowder and a smoked trout salad with roquette, walnuts, and a horseradish dressing – I like that. When it comes to mains, they are priced around the €16/ €28 mark, apart from a whopping 16 pz Dry Aged T-Bone steak at €34.50, and include roast rack of lamb served with roast baby potaotes, wild mushroom and confit garlic jus; ham hock braised in cider with mustard mash and crackling; baked salmon with sugarsnap peas, glazed carrots and a lemon herb butter. There is also a “Catch of the Day” – and no its not the waiter! Steaks of course are the big thing at all FXB restaurants and at the Pembroke Street branch you can have some whoppers including the aforementioned T-Bone. They do delicious Dry Aged Fillets, Sirloins and Rib-eyes at 8 oz, 10 oz or 14oz. However, you can also have the rib-eye as a 22oz on the bone steak – wow. All come with a choice of scallion mash for French fries and with a choice of sauce; peppercorn, Bearnaise, garlic butter or red wine jus. You can make your steak surf and turf by adding prawns in garlic butter or seared scallops in garlic butter with a supplement in each case. Continuing on the steak theme, FXB Pembroke also do 6 oz medallions of fillet beef in a red wine jus with wild mushrooms, shallots and spring onion mash or steak and seafood – 6 oz steak with seared scallops scallion mash and Bearnaise sauce. They also do the ultimate Chateaubriand for two people – 16 oz of sublime beef with fries or mash, wild mushrooms, onions and Bearnaise or garlic butter. Follow that lot with maybe sticky toffee and walnut pudding; bread and butter pudding or a delicious black cherry pannacotta with a cherry compote. They have an excellent lunch menu with main courses from €8.95 and they have a Early Bird Menu offering 2/3 courses at €19.95/€23.95. Perfect spot for a night out or for a good meal after a hard day’s shopping.
