Description

Take one great Georgian Quarter, a great Georgian House, a lady with a great eye for style, detail and elegance, and you have No.1 Pery Square, undoubtedly one of the coolest destinations in the country. Patricia Roberts recognised the potential of this magnificent Georgian house, sitting on a fine corner, of the finest Georgian Square in the City, oozing evocative thoughts of the gentry in their elegant gowns and carriages – they certainly knew how to live. Patricia restored and enhanced this fine building turning it into a glorious townhouse hotel and spa, with meticulous attention to detail that displayed a love and respect for this house rather than it just being a job, and thus gave the people of Limerick a new national treasure.

The property has 20 bedrooms – 5 suites and 15 executive rooms – the top of the range being the 3rd floor suite that once was the bedroom of Lord and Lady Barrington. Being a heritage house, be prepared, if you are treating yourself, to be walking up the stairs.

The gracious drawing room with its fine marble mantlepiece and chandeliers is on the first floor, and here they serve a classic Afternoon Tea of finger sandwiches, freshly baked pastries and scones, with a selection of Musetti tea, or perhaps a glass of Champagne as well.

The hotel's restaurant, The Long Room, is every bit as elegant and chic as the rest of the building with food and service to match. Serving up a superb Townhouse evening dinner menu from Tuesday to Saturday, expect a fab selection of snacks, small plates, mains and puddings, not to mention the carefully curated wine pairings featuring natural, organic and bio dynamic wines along with some great house cocktails. Kick off with a ham hock terrine or perhaps their No.1 sausage roll with Ballymaloe relish, and then follow up with some seared wild Atlantic cod or maybe a sumptuous 10oz ribeye with twice cooked house fries, Portobello mushroom and a peppercorn jus.

They also serve great casual food here at lunchtime, think Orzo pasta with West Limerick mushrooms, cais na tire cheese and a crushed pea and chive remoulade; or maybe a Townhouse burger with Gubeen cheese, chorizo jam, fried egg, gem lettuce, house burger sauce and a side of handcut chips. Great sambos and salds as well.

Planning an event? They also have a fantastic brasserie style private dining space which can be reserved for groups of ten or more.
