About The Hotel

Killarney is a special place, a place I visit on a regular basis because of my work but also because I want to. There is always something happening in Killarney, the people are incredibly innovative so there is always something new to see. As a business town geared towards the tourist, they all pull so well together in making it an ever better town to visit. Who cannot still be moved by the views, the lakes, ever timeless yet ever changing from hour to hour as you look across the water to the mountains – dark and broody one minute, and shining and scintillating the next.

There are more hotels in Killarney than in any other town in the country, and some fabulous hotels at that. Top of the range on all fronts from comfort, luxury, friendliness, and liveability, not forgetting superb food, is the 5 Star Dunloe Hotel.

The Dunloe is a sister hotel of the equally magnificent Europe Hotel, and Ard na Sidhe at Caragh Lake. Set on 64 acres of mature parklands just eight kilometres from Killarney town, it is in a world of its own with awesome views of the Gap of Dunloe and all its mighty beauty. In daytime the view is splendid but in the evening, after a long leisurely dinner and with a glass of wine in hand, your cares just role away as you take in the power of nature.

Furnishings are plush and luxurious, but restrained in a totally classy way. Everything is designed and thought of for the guest’s comforts. There are superior rooms and garden rooms, including ten which are suitable for families, and two wonderful suites. All creature comforts are here including satellite TV, in-house video, fridge, and sumptuous spacious bathrooms with luxurious toiletries. Not only that but they have dog friendly guest rooms so he or she can stay with you and be pampered as well with a welcome pack of yummy goodies, including a pet toy, and there is certainly enough space for woofser to run around and make new doggie friends.

There is lots to do at The Dunloe. There is complimentary trekking on Haflinger ponies, an indoor swimming pool and indoor tennis. Fishing is complimentary for guests on the River Laune which flows through the Dunloe Estate. Equipment is provided free of charge and the kitchen will cook the whale you catch for dinner! They can also arrange kayaking, golf, bike hire and falconry for you to experience (chargeable). During the summer have an adventure playground for children, and movie nights with popcorn and drinks – the parents can go too.

There are two dining options – the Oak Restaurant which is classically elegant with superb food showcasing the best of local and seasonal produce. This is top notch dining including foie gras, lobster, crab claws, scallops all prepared luxuriously and artistically. The second option is the more casual Garden Cafe which also serves a wide range of excellent food from pastas to chicken noodles dishes but also things like pan seared scallops with garlic and herb cream veloute. For more detailed information on the restaurants please check the restaurant side of my website.

This is a hotel that offers the best of all round comfort, food, relaxation and luxury. Don’t forget to enjoy the wonderful afternoon tea………..whilst he has a pint and chat with fellow guests – it’s a sociable place too with a variety of live musical entertainment.
