About The Hotel

On the outskirts of Tralee, on the Killarney Road, adjacent to Kerry’s largest shopping complex, stands the gleaming Manor West Hotel. Custom built from the ground up, this fine addition to Tralee offers exceptional contemporary 4 star comfort and service both in accommodation, facilities and food and is the ideal spot as a base for touring Kerry.

Your arrival in the cool marble spacious lobby with its magnificent paintings and prestigious and stylish lounge area leaves you in no doubt as to the good things to come. Manor West boasts 77 rooms with all the goodies one expects of a modern day hotel and there are also 10 suites on the top floor, Master, Executive or Junior, where you can either relax, or work, in the utmost luxury. What I really like about the rooms is that they are above average size, really bright fresh and airy.

Off the spacious lobby is the Hotel’s modern restaurant, The Walnut Room, where Executive Chef, Bart O’Sullivan, waves the pots and pans with considerable style and expertise. Stylishly designed and buzzing with atmosphere, right in the centre is what might be called the ‘inner circle’, two half moon sections facing one another. which would make a great set for a movie. It is a lovely room and you can expect to dine on the best of Kerry produce. I have had a couple of really top notch dinners there – Bart knows his stuff.

The menu of course varies but includes dishes like house cured Gravadlax paired with avocado puree and horseradish mayonnaise or maybe Baby Gem Salad with croutons, sundried tomato, Parmesan shavings and a Caesar salad. They also do a cracking Dingle Bay Seafood chowder. Mains might include crisp sea-trout with potato puree, red pepper escabeche and a lemon beurre blanc, or grilled breast of chicken with a wild mushroom cream, Parma ham boudin and a red wine reduction. There are always great steaks too served with pomme frites, fine beans, and a choice of garlic butter, peppercorn sauce or a mushroom cream. Save space too for Chocolate Marquise with an orange compote – luscious. If you want to eat more informally there is the option of the very casual style Mercantile Bar with its flat screen TVs and self-service food area. They do popular dishes like barbecued chicken wings; a Tart Tatin of caramelised onions and goats cheese with beetroot dressing; breaded Tiger prawns; Dingle Bay Scampi with salad and fries; steak baguette with sautéed mushrooms and onions. Mains include baked fillet of salmon with lemongrass infused vegetables; an 8oz beef burger with smoked cheese and all the trimmings. Their posh Fish ‘n Chips is also very popular as is their Fish Pie.

Manor West is ideal too for families who will love the Leisure Club facilities. There is an 18-metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and a state of the art gymnasium. Whilst Dad is taking the kids to the pool, this is the time you can take yourself off to the Harmony Spa which has 5 treatment rooms, Laconium, Razul and Aroma Steam Room. Treat yourself to a body wrap and then take yourself off to spend his money at the nearby shopping centre! He won’t know you by the time you come back!

The Hotel’s easy parking and proximity to the busy commercial town of Tralee makes it an ideal base for the businessman. While, it’s central location in the beautiful Kingdom of Kerry makes it the perfect base for the tourist who wishes to explore the delights of this splendid County.

Kerry is the Kingdom.
