About The Restaurant

Set in the fabulous 4 Star Glenroyal Hotel & Leisure Club in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, The Enclosure at Arkle is a fabulous place to enjoy a meal. Executive Head Chef Bernard McGuane leads the charge here in producing elegant modern menus with bold flavours and a subtle but effective style.

Kick things off with a Watermelon Martini or Pink Lady from their delightful cocktail selection whilst you take in the room and begin perusing the menu. The décor here is upscale and intimate with a raised dining area and booth seating, dark and light oak timber finishes, and attractive brass light fixtures. There’s plenty of style at play, but the vibe here is still relaxed and airy.

Starters at The Enclosure might include Tuna Tataki with ponzu, avocado puree, roast pepper and tobiko; breaded monkfish with lime miso and black garlic; or Chicken Karaage with burnt lemon, tare and a chilli dipping sauce. They do a great wild mushroom risotto in panko breadcrumbs with cep dressing, chervil and parmesan, not to mention a dish of large red prawns, cooked over coals, with chilli and garlic butter, almonds and a piece of charred sourdough.

For the Mains, think grilled brill with shellfish sauce, slow cooked tomato, crab claw, cockles and chervil; roast chicken supreme with mashed potato, braised peas, broad beans, smoked bacon and parmesan; or perhaps some potato gnocchi with truffle, parmesan, courgette and broad bean. Serious carnivores will be delighted with options like a dry aged beef burger in a soft bun with red Cheddar, tomato red pepper chutney, crispy onions and truffle mayo, or if you really want to release the beast, sink your teeth into a delicious 90z dry aged sirloin steak with triple cooked chips, watercress and a choice of béarnaise or pepper sauce.

Their ‘On The Board’ menu features some wonderful specials cooked over coals and different woods to create a rich smoky flavour. Think Chateaubriand, Tomahawk steaks or a delicious seafood plate for two of steamed cockles and mussels, crab, king prawn, brill, haddock and a herb shellfish sauce.

Desserts at The Enclosure are a decadent delight with sweet treats like toffee fondant, vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce; Bailey’s salted caramel espresso martini; or a strawberry and cream sharing cheesecake. For a full chocolate meltdown, indulge in rich chocolate sphere with caramel sauce, hazelnut sponge and vanilla ice cream.

To round off a great meal, have one of their soothing liquor coffees, be it Irish, French or Calypso.

Besides from The Enclosure at Arkle, there are two other great dining options at Glenroyal Hotel to try also – the superb Arkle Bar & Restaurant and their Shoda Market Café serving all day bites and baked treats.
