About The Restaurant

Situated on the Lower Kilmacud Road, opposite the Stillorgan Shopping Centre in Dublin, you will find Aprile Restaurant, a wonderful asset to the Stillorgan restaurant community. Beautifully decorated with a cool contemporary look, Aprile’s has a young hip 'dolce vita' feel about it, from its use of light and colour right down to the snazzy looking white marble bar. The staff there were very friendly and attentive throughout my visit and they are offering great value through their extensive set menus which include two courses and a glass of wine/beer for only €15.90 from Monday to Friday or €19.90 on Saturdays & Sundays, as well as their extensive a la carte menu.

Starters included all the favourites from garlic bread topped with Napoletana sauce and melted mozzarella;  Salad with Tuna, Feta cheese, black olives and feta cheese, tossed in extra virgin olive oil as well as Cajun chicken wings in BBQ sauce. Suppli di Riso were there as were Gamberi Piccanti – spicy prawns panfried with chili, garlic oil and Arrabbiata sauce.  Involtini di Braesola, cured Italian beef was rolled and stuffed with fresh rocket, shavings of Parmesan, sundried tomato and pesto, whilst Parma ham is served with juicy melon.  I however opted for their calamari fritti which saw delicious crisp lightly battered squid served with a garlic dip whilst my better half had Capril salad of Buffalo Mozzarella cheese with fresh basil and pesto dressing.

When it came to deciding on the mains it was difficult as there was so much to choose from. Dishes in the pasta section sounded tempting with offerings like Ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach served in a slightly creamy rose' sauce with fresh spinach or Tortellini Aurora which were savory meat filled pasta shells cooked in a creamy rose' sauce and basil pesto. Their pizza menu looked quite pleasing also with pies including the Quattro Stagioni, with Napoletana sauce, ham, mushrooms, onions, peppers and mozzarella; and the Diavola, which came with Napoletana sauce, strips of smoked Parma ham, pepperoni, mozzarella and chili. A good selection of meat dishes was available too, including their Pollo alla Cacciatora which was grilled chicken breast served on a bed of creamy basil risotto with roast vegetables and tomato sauce. They also do a 12 oz rib-eye steak,  mignon of fillet steak and medallions of beef fillet with cracked black pepper and brandy sauce or garlic butter, as well as a baked fillet of salmon served with dill sauce. In the end I chose the Pollo Parmigiana which was fried tender fillet of chicken in breadcrumbs and topped with Napoletana sauce and Parmesan whilst himself opted for the Penne Mare e Monti which saw penne pasta with strips of beef and prawns served in a creamy tomato sauce and finished with basil pesto. We were both delighted with our meals and could see clearly why Aprile is such a popular spot. Deserts were too tempting to ignore and between us we managed to polish off a delicious tiramisu as well as a rich delicious chocolate cake before finally waving the white flag.

Aprile’s is a buzzy stylish venue but also a very welcoming and friendly spot to spend an evening and I eagerly await my next visit.
