About The Restaurant

The Chatham Brasserie has it all when it comes to location, style, buzz and decent grub. Located just off Dublin’s posh shopping street, Chatham Street has always had a particular life of its own. Close to the Gaiety Theatre, the nearby pubs are legendary and have always attracted arty and theatrical types. Good too that a really good city style brasserie was added to the street – it even has that old Dublin phenomenon – a Snug! Chatham Brasserie is really an eclectic spot. Starters €6.50/€10.95 includes dishes influenced the Italy, Turkey, France, and the U.S.A. So what are they? Well, Fritto Misto is seasoned floured and fried squid, prawns and whelks – delish. Spiced lamb koftas have a roast garlic raita and a mint salad; Caramelised Chevre Goats Cheese is with spinach salad, red apples and pistachion pesto; and the all time favourite Spicy Chicken Wings are available with celery sticks and a blue cheese dressing.. Mains which run around the €16.95/€25 are interesting and delicious. Braised lamb leg chop is with spiced roast aubergine, sauteed potatoes with garlic and parsley; Green Thai Chicken Curry with chestnut mushrooms is aromatic and fragrant served with coconut Basmati rice; An escalope of Saddleback Pork “Saltimbocca” has green beans, roast potatoes and lemon, whilst there are also a couple of interesting vegetarian dishes, which I always like to see, such as sweet potato served as a mild curry with cinnamon and lemon rice with chargrilled naan bread, and risotto of asparagus and peas has Pecorino shavings. From the grill, you can have a whopping homemade Irish beef burger with a toasted sesame bun with beef tomato, onion, pickle, bacon and Applewood smoked cheddar cheese and your choice of fat cut or skinny fries at €15.95. You can also have a cracking aged Hereford sirloin steak with fat cut hips, onions, peppercorn sauce or garlic butter at €25 – and they do a great fish and chips with tartare sauce. Lunch specials are available Monday to Friday from 11 am – 4 pm all at €12.95 including free range wild boar and apple sausages with mash potato and onion gravy; fusilli with spinach, roast tomatoes and Parmesan cream; or an interesting dish using grilled fresh Irish mackerel in a Nicoise salad. Brunch is one of my favourite meals and they do Brunch at the Chatham Brasserie on Saturdays and Sundays, and Bank Holidays. You can kick off with a really good Bloody Mary, or anything else you fancy! I adore Eggs Benedict which they do here, and Eggs Florentine. My better half likes his Grilled Irish Breakfast –otherwise it’s not Sunday for him. Of course you can have other breakfast variations poached eggs, potato and crisp bacon hash with a fresh cut salsa or even chargrilled sirloin steakd with a soft poached egg, fat cut chips and hollandaise. Chatham Brasserie too have really stepped up to the plate in these recessionary times with a great Early Bird menu 2/3 course €17.95/19.95 available Sunday – Wednesday from 5 p.m. all evening and Thursday and Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. Wait for it. They also have a fantastic offer of two 2 course meals plus bottle of wine at €45 or two 3 course meals plus a bottle of wine at €50 running at the same times. Sure why would you stay at home?
