BRAMLEY LODGE CAFE AND FOOD STORE

Wednesday 02 December 2009

Starting out on an exciting new foodie career in 2009 and facing into her first Christmas is Gillian Kearney with her new Bramley Lodge Café & Food Store. Gillian, who says she has come from a “pub background”, is in business parnership with Fergal Deasy and Paul O’Sullivan, and, “without having done any marketing at all”, the trio are drawing the crowds. Located just off the N25 on the road to Cobh, the business is in a pretty Hansel & Gretel style house. We spotted it on the way to stay at the Fota Resort Hotel where General Manager, John O’Keeffe, told us Bramley Lodge was proving popular with his guests for foodie gifts. We were greeted with a colourful array of chutneys, jams, deli items, and gifts with a timely Christmas appeal. Gillian says she has a great love of food and is going back to the old ways of home produced food. All the dishes served in the café, and fresh and frozen ready meals in the shop, are produced in their own kitchen without any artificial additives, and most are gluten free. Bramley Lodge is open seven days a week and, when they close to the public, the baking and ready meals are produced overnight in the kitchen. Ready meals include Red Thai Chicken Curry, Lasagne, Shepherd’s Pie, Chicken Leek and Smoked Bacon Pie, Skeaghanore West Cork duck breasts et al. The ready meals come in two sizes generally priced at €9.50 and €5.95. Tel No. (021) 488-2499.
