Custom built, several years ago, the Carlton offers the very best of 4 star luxurious accommodation and comfort for even the most discerning guest. This is a very modern hotel with the chicest interiors and innovative design features and is one of the most popular places to stay in Kinsale.
We are, as it were, part-time Kinsale residents and as soon as the doors opened, like all the locals, we were out like a shot, because a brand new hotel in Kinsale was always going to be the subject of chat and we certainly had plenty to chat about. The lobby with its high glass atrium is a fusion of glass and steel with cream walls, lifted by gorgeous purple and orange sofas and easy chairs. A glass staircase and corridor runs across it adding to the almost Japanese feel.
The Carlton Kinsale is perfect for a romantic breakaway. We spent our honeymoon in Kinsale thirty years ago and we couldn’t afford to stay in the leading hotel of the time so ended up in a cramped room, with a narrow hard bed against a wall, and music blaring all night! Even with romance in the air it was damned uncomfortable. How times have changed.
