Taste deliciously fresh home-grown goodies at
Tankardstown Estate’s monthly Farmers’ Market

31st July 2010

Once every month, give the supermarket a miss and sample local produce at its freshest. Starting on Saturday 31st July (10am – 3pm), the lovely setting of Tankardstown Estate in Meath will hold a Farmers’ Market.

Wander round an array of stalls in the picturesque Garden Village selling treats guaranteed to satisfy every appetite – from artisan breads, duck eggs, smoked fish, chutneys, jam, cheese and organic fruit and veg, to creamy fudge, sheep’s milk ice cream, cookies and cupcakes. There will also be herb boxes and herbaceous plants for those who love adding fresh garden flavours to their home cooking.

Green-fingered guests will also have the opportunity to pick the brains of members from the Irish Specialist Nursery Association who will be selling specimen plants and giving expert advice in the car park area in Tankardstown.

People across the globe are rediscovering the benefits of buying local and seasonal food. Local home-grown produce is deliciously fresh and you can treat yourself while supporting your local economy.

So enjoy the fun, food and 'craic' at the Tankardstown Farmers’ Market every month, while supporting local growers and farmers, meeting the people selling directly to you, and cutting down on your costs.

If the delectable produce leaves you unable to wait to get home and cook why not extend your day by taking advantage of Tankardstown’s dining options which include their beautiful restaurant Brabazon and their cosy Bistro. Alternatively, for larger parties wanting their own space Secret Dining in the old milk parlour provides an intimate and enchanting private dining experience.
