“On March 17, 2020, I was sitting in Dromoland Castle wondering if I’d be flying to Texas that week for scheduled sales calls,” Marie Chawke says. “I’d never have thought that I’d already had my last flight for over 15 months, that international travel would grind to a halt, our industry would be decimated by the pandemic, and that Covid would save my life.”
Normally brimming with US guests, Dromoland in Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co Clare, has been silent but for the short summer season last year when Irish families came out in force.
